What is pet insurance in Norway?

Pet insurance (dyreforsikring or dyreforsikring for hund og katt) covers veterinary costs when your dog, cat or other animal is ill or injured. Norway has no public animal-health service, so vet bills fall entirely on the owner, and a serious operation can run into tens of thousands of kroner. A policy reimburses eligible treatment costs up to an annual limit, and many also include a life cover element that pays out if the animal dies or must be put down.
